What Sets AI Background Remover Apart
An engineering and creative breakdown of model performance, architecture, and practical production workflows.
Cutting a subject out by hand means a pen tool, patience and an eye for stray hairs. Cinel's background remover does it in one step: upload a picture and the AI finds the main subject, separates it from everything behind it, and returns a transparent PNG ready for a store listing, a slide or a new design. There's nothing to type and nothing to mask. Each cutout costs 3 credits, and signed-in users can remove one background per day with their daily free credits.
What makes Cinel's background remover different
Most background removers stop at the cutout. On Cinel the cutout is the start of a workflow:
- Place the isolated product in a new scene with Image to Image or the Product Staging template.
- Widen the frame for a banner with AI Uncrop.
- Enlarge a small source with the Image Upscaler for print or zoom.
- Animate the finished composite with Image to Video. Your file stays in one workspace from raw photo to campaign asset.
Key features
- Fully automatic: no prompt, brush or manual selection.
- Transparent PNG output that drops onto any background in Canva, Figma, PowerPoint or a store builder.
- Edge handling for hair, fur, soft fabric and rounded products.
- JPG, PNG and WEBP uploads.
- Flat price: 3 credits per image, or once per day with daily free credits.
- Private by default: signed-in results stay in your own history.

How to remove a background on Cinel
- Open Background Remover from the AI Image Edit menu.
- Upload or drag in your image.
- Press Generate. The subject is detected and separated automatically.
- Check the edges at full zoom, especially hair, glass and jewellery.
- Download the transparent PNG, or continue to Uncrop, Upscaler, Image to Image or Image to Video.
Getting the cleanest cutout
- Contrast helps: a dark product on a light backdrop (or the reverse) separates best.
- Keep the subject sharp. Motion blur and heavy compression make edges fuzzy.
- Show the whole subject. Objects cut off by the frame edge stay cut off.
- One clear subject per photo. Group shots may keep or drop people unpredictably.
- Tricky materials such as clear glass, smoke, veils and fine mesh can keep traces of the old background. Review them, and touch them up with the AI Image Editor if needed.
Use cases
- Marketplace listings: products on plain white or brand colours.
- Headshots and team pages: a consistent backdrop for every person.
- Stickers, logos and merch art with transparent edges.
- Ads and social posts: subjects layered over text and graphics.
- Presentations: product shots that sit cleanly on any slide colour.
- Composites: a person or object moved into a new AI-generated scene.
Background Remover vs AI Image Editor
Use the Background Remover when you want the subject alone on a transparent layer. Use the AI Image Editor when you want to replace the background with something specific in one go, such as "a marble countertop with morning light", and keep a finished photo rather than a cutout.
Why a transparent PNG matters
A JPG always has a solid background, even if it's white. A PNG can store an alpha channel, so the pixels around your subject are truly empty. That's why a Cinel cutout can sit on a coloured banner, a photo or a gradient without a white box around it. Keep the file as PNG while you design, and export to JPG only at the very end if a platform demands it, after you've placed the final background colour.
A marketplace-ready product checklist
- Shoot the product straight on, evenly lit, filling most of the frame.
- Remove the background on Cinel and download the PNG.
- Place it on the background your marketplace requires (often pure white) or a soft brand tone.
- Leave consistent padding on every side so a whole catalogue lines up in the grid.
- If the source was small, run the result through the Image Upscaler for zoom views.
- For lifestyle images, generate a scene with Product Staging and keep the plain version as the main listing photo.
