What Sets AI Image Upscaler Apart
An engineering and creative breakdown of model performance, architecture, and practical production workflows.
A picture that looks fine on a phone can fall apart on a banner, a product zoom or a printed poster. Cinel's AI image upscaler enlarges your image two or four times and rebuilds the fine texture that ordinary resizing smears away: fabric weave, skin pores, leaf edges, lettering. Upload a file of up to 10 MB, choose 2× or 4×, and download a larger version with the same framing as the original. Each upscale costs credits, and signed-in users can upscale once per day with daily free credits.
What makes Cinel's upscaler different
- Two clear choices, no slider guesswork: 2× for up to 2K, 4× for up to 4K.
- Composition stays put: the aspect ratio and framing are preserved, so the result drops straight into your existing layout.
- Built for AI images too: generations from Text to Image or models like Nano Banana 2 and Seedream 4.5 can be sent here directly.
- Batch for members: up to 10 images in one run.
Key features
- AI super-resolution that adds believable texture and crisp edges.
- 2× (up to 2K) and 4× (up to 4K) output.
- JPG, PNG and WEBP uploads up to 10 MB.
- Before/after comparison to judge the gain.
- Batch upscaling of 10 images for members.
- Results saved privately to your history when signed in.

How to upscale an image on Cinel
- Open Image Upscaler in the AI Image Edit menu.
- Upload a JPG, PNG or WEBP of up to 10 MB. Members can add up to 10 files.
- Choose 2× or 4×.
- Press Generate and compare the before/after view.
- Download, or carry the larger image on to Image to Video or a print layout.
When to choose 2× or 4×
- 2× suits web and social use: blog headers, marketplace galleries, slide decks, or a 1K AI image you need at 2K.
- 4× suits large displays and print checks: posters, packaging mockups, wall art, or close product zooms.
- Starting from a tiny thumbnail? Do 4× once rather than chaining several upscales. Each AI pass can add invented texture.
What upscaling can and can't do
AI upscaling predicts detail from patterns. That works well for natural textures, but anything that must stay exact needs a check:
- Faces: inspect eyes and teeth at 100%.
- Text and logos: letters may be redrawn slightly. Replace brand marks with the original vector where possible.
- Patterns and products: confirm that stitching, labels and fine prints match the real item.
- Heavy blur can't be fully recovered. Upscaling sharpens, but it can't refocus a missed shot.
Use cases
- E-commerce zoom images from small supplier photos.
- Printing AI art on posters, canvas or merchandise.
- Restoring old scans together with the Photo Restoration template.
- Upgrading AI generations for hero banners and wallpapers.
- Presentations and pitch decks that will be shown on large screens.
- Better video sources: sharper stills before animating them.
Upscaler vs AI Uncrop
The upscaler makes the same picture bigger. AI Uncrop makes the canvas wider or taller by painting new surroundings. To turn a square photo into a large 16:9 banner, uncrop first, then upscale.
A two-minute workflow for AI-generated images
Most image models on Cinel render at 1K by default. When one of them becomes a hero image:
- Generate and pick your favourite in Text to Image or Image to Image.
- Fix composition first. If you need a wider frame, run AI Uncrop before enlarging.
- Upscale 2× for web use or 4× for print and large screens.
- Zoom to 100% on hands, eyes and any lettering. If something looks off, regenerate the source rather than upscaling the flaw.
- Download and keep the original next to the enlarged file for future edits.
Choosing a good source file
- Use the least compressed version you have. A screenshot of a photo is worse than the photo itself.
- PNG keeps more detail than a heavily compressed JPG, as long as it fits in 10 MB.
- Crop away unwanted borders before upscaling, so credits go to the area you'll actually use.
- Very noisy night photos may look painterly after enlargement. Try 2× first and compare.
