Deep Dive & Practical Guide

What Sets Text to Image Apart

An engineering and creative breakdown of model performance, architecture, and practical production workflows.

Type a sentence, get a picture. Cinel's text to image generator starts on Kolors, a model that costs no credits, so you can explore ideas without counting anything. When a brief needs more — legible lettering, 4K detail, a product that must look exactly right — the same prompt box lets you switch to a dozen premium image models, and the credit cost is shown before you press Generate. Eligible free images can be created without signing in, and Cinel adds no watermark of its own.

What's free and what costs credits

Cinel separates the free tier from paid models clearly, because "free" on many AI sites quietly means three images and a paywall.

  • Kolors — free. It is the default model on this page and doesn't use Cinel credits. Fair-use safeguards and rate limits apply.
  • 9 daily credits. Signed-in users can claim 9 free credits every day, and unused credits roll over up to a balance of 20. Spend them on Z-Image Turbo, GPT Image 2 or GPT Image 2.5. The Background Remover, Image Upscaler and AI Uncrop can also each be used once per day with daily credits; the limit applies per tool.
  • Z-Image Turbo: 3 credits, not free. Signed-in non-members pay 3 credits per generation (members pay 1). Paid from daily credits, that's up to 3 Z-Image Turbo images a day.
  • Premium models — credits. Nano Banana and Seedream models are part of a membership. Pro is $10 a month for 2,000 credits shared across images and video.

Free users get one output and up to three reference images per request. Members can ask for up to four outputs at once and attach up to eight references.

Key features

  • Model switching in one box: change the engine without rewriting the prompt.
  • AI Enhance: expands a short idea into a fuller visual brief.
  • Reference images: steer colours, faces or products even in a text-first workflow.
  • Aspect ratios for every channel: square posts, 9:16 stories, 16:9 banners and more, depending on the model.
  • Readable lettering: GPT Image, Seedream and Z-Image Turbo handle short Chinese or English text better than most free tools.
  • Private by default: signed-in creations stay in your history and aren't published to a public gallery.

How to create an image from text on Cinel

  1. Write what you want to see: subject, setting, light and mood, e.g. "a ceramic coffee cup on a linen tablecloth, morning window light, soft shadows, top-down".
  2. Tap AI Enhance if your idea is only a few words long, then edit the expanded prompt.
  3. Keep Kolors for a free first pass, or open the model menu and pick one from the table above.
  4. Choose the aspect ratio for where the image will be used. Members can also set the number of outputs (1–4).
  5. Press Generate. Download the result, or send it to Image to Image, the AI Image Editor, Background Remover, AI Uncrop, Image Upscaler or Image to Video.

A prompt formula that works

Subject + action + setting + light + camera + style + format. For example: "a red vintage bicycle leaning on a pastel wall (subject), late afternoon sun (light), 35mm lens at eye level (camera), film photography look (style), 4:5 portrait (format)". If you want words in the image, put them in quotation marks and name where they go. Change one element per round so you can see what moved the result.

Use cases

  • Social posts and thumbnails: generate several looks for one caption in minutes.
  • Product concepts: test packaging colours or scenes before a photoshoot.
  • Posters and cards: short headlines rendered inside the image.
  • Blog and newsletter headers: original visuals instead of stock photos.
  • Bilingual menus and signs: mixed Chinese and English lettering.
  • Mood boards: explore a style direction before briefing a designer.

Text to Image vs Image to Image

Use Text to Image when you're starting from an idea. Use Image to Image when you already have a photo, sketch or product shot that the result must resemble. Many projects use both: a free Kolors draft here, then a refined version from a reference with a premium model.

FAQ

Before you create

Is the text to image generator really free?

Kolors is the free-queue model: it costs no credits and is the default. Other models use credits. Signed-in users can claim 9 free credits every day (balance capped at 20), which covers, for example, up to 3 Z-Image Turbo images at 3 credits each.

Do I need an account?

Eligible free images can be made without signing in. Sign in to keep your history, receive daily credits and use premium models.

Which model should I choose?

Start free with Kolors. Pick GPT Image 2 or 2.5 for lettering, Nano Banana 2 for consistent characters, Nano Banana Pro or Seedream 4.5 for 4K, and Seedream 5 Pro for lighting-led art direction.

Can the AI write Chinese text in images?

Yes. Z-Image Turbo, GPT Image and Seedream render short Chinese or English phrases well. Put the exact words in quotes and check the result before publishing.

Are images watermarked?

Cinel adds no watermark. Some providers embed invisible provenance marks; Google's Nano Banana models include SynthID, for example.

Can I use the images commercially?

Generally yes, for lawful uses, subject to Cinel's Terms, the selected model's policy and third-party rights such as brands or real people's likenesses.
