Why this prompt works
A reference-based prompt for profile pictures: upload a photo and ask for a cheerful 3D version with a warm smile, bright eyes, smooth textures and slightly exaggerated proportions, lit like a clean studio portrait. We tested it on a fictional reference of a woman in her thirties with a pixie cut. The result kept her hair, smile and grey sweater faithfully, but it sits closer to a polished semi-realistic render than a full cartoon: the proportions are only lightly stylised. If you want a stronger animated look, push the exaggeration explicitly ('large expressive eyes, rounded head, simplified nose') and mention a plain pastel background. For teams, run every member through it for matching avatars.
How to adapt it
| Variable | What it changes | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| the person in the uploaded image | your reference photo | a selfie, a team headshot |
| slightly exaggerated proportions | how cartoonish | strongly exaggerated, big eyes, subtle, near-realistic |
| clean studio look | background and light | pastel gradient background, outdoor park backdrop |
Tips
- Use a clear, front-facing photo with even light for the best likeness.
- Spell out cartoon features if the first result looks too realistic.
- Run the same prompt for a whole team so avatars match in style.
