An engineering and creative breakdown of model performance, architecture, and practical production workflows.
Sora 2 is OpenAI's video-and-audio model, built to make short scenes that look physically believable and arrive with matching sound already in place. You describe a moment — who is there, what they do, how the camera moves, what you hear — and Sora 2 returns a clip of 4, 8 or 12 seconds in landscape or portrait. You can also give it one image to serve as the opening frame. On Cinel, Sora 2 starts from 124 credits, with a 4-second 16:9 clip as the default.
Most video models on Cinel compete on resolution, length or control. Sora 2's edge is physical plausibility. OpenAI reports better physics accuracy than earlier Sora versions: a ball bounces with the right weight, water splashes and settles, fabric and hair respond to movement, and a scene holds together instead of drifting. That makes it a strong choice when the viewer must believe what they see — a demonstration, a science visual, a product in use.
Its second strength is sound designed with the picture. Sora 2 is described as a general-purpose video-audio system: it can produce speech, background soundscapes and effects that line up with on-screen action, so footsteps land on the beat of each step and a door slam is heard when the door closes.
Third, it follows multi-part instructions across shots while keeping the world consistent — describe a wide establishing view and then a close-up, and the setting, lighting and characters carry over. Sora 2 also ranges comfortably across realistic, cinematic and anime looks.
The trade-off is a deliberately narrow format: three fixed durations, two frame shapes and strict content rules. It is a precision instrument for short, believable moments rather than a long-form or highly configurable tool.

Veo 3.1 (from 120 credits on its Fast Beta tier) also creates sound with the video, but adds first-and-last-frame control and renders up to 4K — pick it when resolution or a planned end frame matters. Wan 2.6 (from 145 credits) runs any length from 2 to 15 seconds at up to 1080p with automatic multi-shot planning and more aspect ratios. Choose Sora 2 when believable physics and natural, scene-matched audio in a short clip are the priority.
Exactly three: 4, 8 or 12 seconds. Cinel defaults to 4 seconds, which is the cheapest way to test a prompt.
Yes. It can generate dialogue, ambience and sound effects synchronized to the action. Describe the sounds you want in the prompt for the best results.
Yes, one image (JPG, PNG or WebP). Its shape should match the chosen frame — landscape for 16:9, portrait for 9:16. Images that contain human faces are rejected.
Sora 2 has strict guardrails: content must suit audiences under 18, no real person may appear — public figures included — and copyrighted characters or music are refused. Rephrase with original characters and settings.
16:9 landscape and 9:16 portrait. For square or other shapes, crop after download or choose a model with more aspect ratio options, such as Wan 2.6.
From 124 credits for the default clip. Longer durations cost more, and the exact figure appears before you generate.
